An enlightening and very detailed history of the native Hawaiian people from pre1800's to 1899 inclusive of the development and character of the Kingdom of Hawaii from the 1700's through the changeover from kingdom to republic to annexation by the USA (late 1800's). This book was originally published by the order of the Board of Education of the Kingdom of Hawaii with a chapter added on in 1899 covering the change from the Kingdom of Hawaii to the Republic of Hawaii.
This book was written and compiled by the son of early Missionaries to the Hawaiian Islands, Mr. and Mrs. William Patterson Alexander of the 5th Missionary company sent to the islands.
